November and December are angst-ridden months for me. The thought of Christmas leaves me sweaty and reaching into the dark times of the little girl surrounded by noise, alcohol, and loud voices: happy and sad. It is a time when my chest swells in anticipation of something bad about to happen. My sense of Belonging becomes so frayed that I am acutely aware of my own loneliness, the void in my heart as a little girl and the ultimate question to myself-What have I done to be rejected?

Through the years I have come to answer that question and find ways to calm my chest and turn my mind in a new direction.

THE PRESENT MOMENT is a powerful space, and many years of self-coaching has allowed me to use some tried and tested techniques that makes Gratitude and Contentment my primary states.

Triggers are reminders of negative energy coded in our bodies that need love, patience, and self-compassion to be brought to the surface and offered a level of self-forgiveness. It’s about our inner child not having the resources or a level of acceptance and Care that allows us to navigate family dynamics. The story we start to make up in our mind to survive needs to be revisited as we mature into adulthood.

It does however beg the question-are you wanted, and do you have a seat at the table?

The brutality and reality of that question is one that can clear up lots of energy for relationships that are rewarding and respectful. Boundaries are essential for healthy relationships and honesty is healing all on its own. The ability to speak your truth and be at peace within yourself is a Gift that you can give yourself all year long, not just at Christmas.

Whilst these two months may feel eternal for some of us it also offers an opportunity to be seen and validated. As a child I felt INVISIBLE and so when I am struggling on the inside it becomes my go to survival mode. But it need not be!

I am working through this holiday time with a commitment to self-love and inviting in peace and joy through little rituals that could just make this an enjoyable Christmas!
